How is Web of Life Vegetables & Flowers Compost different from the Trees, Bushes & Canes Blend?
You’ll notice larger woody pieces in our Compost for Trees, Bushes & Canes. This is because we deliberately refrain from screening compost bound for perennial plants to a specific size so that it retains a good variety of aged wood chips. These larger decomposed wood chips are perfect habitats for a proliferation of beneficial fungi. Think of walking through the forest and spotting mycelia trailing across decaying wood. Perennials thrive in fungal soils.
Our Vegetables & Flowers blend is more geared toward annuals. Annuals don’t need as much fungi, so we screen this blend to ½ inch with a home-made contraption we put together using bicycle rims, hardware cloth and an electric drill. Check out Violet’s debut video appearance in this sifting demo!
